A HEALTHIER LIFE

Cat Spay & Neuter in Dubai

One of the simplest things you can do for your cat's long-term health. Neutering lowers the risk of several cancers and infections later in life, and ease the behaviours that come with them. Males home the same day; females stay one night for monitoring.

ANAESTHESIA SAFETY

The part people actually worry about

Most owners worry about the anaesthetic more than the surgery. Before we start, we do a full physical exam and pre-anaesthetic blood tests when your cat's age or health history calls for them, and we postpone if anything looks off.

Throughout the surgery, a dedicated nurse monitors heart rate, oxygen, blood pressure, and temperature, so your cat has one person focused on them while the vet operates. Pain relief starts before the first incision and continues at home, and your cat wakes on a heated bed with a nurse close by until fully alert, and we call you as soon as they are awake and stable.

HEALTH BENEFITS

What each surgery protects against

Beyond preventing unplanned pregnancies, spaying and neutering protect your cat for years. Spaying removes the ovaries and uterus, which takes away the risk of uterine infections and ovarian tumours and significantly lowers the chance of mammary cancer, particularly when done before she is old enough to have kittens. It also spares her the restlessness and loud calling that come when she is ready to breed.

Neutering removes the testicles, which takes away the risk of testicular cancer and lowers the chance of prostate issues later on. It also tends to reduce spraying, roaming, and territorial aggression toward other cats, and spaying or neutering every cat helps reduce the number of homeless and community cats across Dubai.

THE PROCESS

What the day looks like

Drop off in the morning. Neuters go home the same afternoon; spays stay with us overnight.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

Fasting

No food after midnight; water is fine until morning. Kittens under four months follow a different schedule; we'll confirm it at your consultation.

PRICE GUIDE

Cat spay and neuter cost

Pricing covers a pre-operative exam and blood test to make sure your cat is ready for anaesthesia, the operation itself, our sterile surgical space and post-operative care.

Feline Castration (Males)

Price starts at 1,155 AED

(Including blood test & examination)

Feline Spay (Females)

Price starts at 1,500 AED

(Including blood test & examination)

If your cat is pregnant, in season, overweight, or has an existing condition, the procedure may take longer or need extra care, and the price can change accordingly. We'll always explain the difference before the day, never on it.

AFTERCARE

Recovery at home

Most catsโ€™ appetites return to normal within 24 hours, and full recovery generally takes 7 to 10 days, with males often recovering a little faster than females. Keep your cat indoors in a quiet, clean space with only gentle activity, and use dust-free litter for a few days to keep the incision clean.

If needed, an E-collar keeps them from licking or chewing the incision. Your post-op check with us is included, and you can call us any time if something looks wrong. We would rather you did.

Indoor cats tend to recover more easily, and if yours goes outside, we will talk through keeping them safely in for the full recovery window.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the risks of spay or neuter surgery?

As with any surgery, there's a small risk, though spaying and neutering are among the most routine and successful procedures we perform. The safeguards outlined above are designed to keep that risk as low as possible.

When should I spay or neuter my cat?

We generally recommend 4 to 6 months, before your cat reaches sexual maturity. Our vets assess each cat individually, including breed, health and history, to confirm the right timing.

What goes home with my cat?

Pain relief goes home with your cat, and we explain the dose before you leave. We include an E-collar if your cat needs one. Please give only what we prescribe, as human painkillers are toxic to cats.

What should I watch for after surgery?

Some tiredness on the first evening is normal. Call us if the incision looks swollen, red or is leaking, if your cat refuses food after 24 hours, or if they seem unusually quiet or in pain.

Will my cat's personality change?

No. What tends to reduce are hormone-driven behaviours: roaming, spraying, and some forms of aggression. Owners often describe their cat as calmer and more affectionate afterwards. Who they are doesn't change.

Will my cat gain weight afterwards?

It's a real possibility, not a myth. Removing the sex hormones slows their metabolism and can increase appetite, so some cats need slightly less food and more exercise than before. It's manageable with small adjustments, and were happy to talk it through at their check-up.
